5-Amino-1MQ (5-amino-1-methylquinolin-1-ium iodide, CAS# 42464-96-0) is a synthetic quinolinium salt that acts as a selective substrate-site inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT). NexPept supplies it as a research reference standard for NAD⁺ salvage pathway and metabolic enzyme studies in cultured cells. Not for use in any living organism.
Every lot is independently tested by a third-party analytical laboratory before it is listed. The Certificate of Analysis reports HPLC purity, mass spectrometry identity confirmation, and net-content verification, and stays published in our COA library after the batch sells out.
For background on the compound itself — what NNMT does, how inhibiting it affects NAD⁺ availability, and what the published research covers — see our 5-Amino-1MQ research overview.

5-Amino-1MQ is used as a pharmacological tool compound in preclinical in vitro settings. Published work has examined its behaviour in NNMT enzyme inhibition assays, NAD⁺ salvage pathway and methionine cycle flux studies, adipogenesis models in 3T3-L1 cells, and skeletal muscle cell regeneration research.
As a defined small molecule with consistent structural characteristics between lots, it is used in controlled laboratory environments to study metabolic enzyme activity and downstream NAD⁺ metabolism signalling. Lot-to-lot consistency matters for this kind of work, which is why every NexPept batch is published with its own purity figure rather than a blanket claim.
This compound has not been authorized by Health Canada for any therapeutic, clinical, or human use.
